While working on the Pottery Fitness virtual potter’s wheel, you don’t need to touch the screen and interact directly with your mobile device. Just move your hands, and the signal is transmitted through the sensor. It feels just like working on a real potter’s wheel.

How it works

Pottery Fitness is the world’s first smartphone and tablet game that allows you to fully simulate working on a potter’s wheel, thanks to the sensor. Find out more information or buy the sensor here: www.movesense.com/product/movesense-sensor/

To get started:

Step 1

Attach the sensor to your hand any way you like with a glove, bracelet or wristband. You can simply hold the sensor in your hand or play without one.

Step 3

Put your hands in the starting position. A square piece of "clay" will appear on the screen and a cursor will indicate the position of your hands in space.

Step 4

Rotate your hands to use the cursor to remove the "clay" from the workpiece. Try to make sure that the result is a piece similar to the example given in the assignment.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disease of the 21st century. It affects about 20 percent of people whose jobs involve using computers and smartphones. Programmers, copywriters, marketers, designers, call-center operators, and many more are at risk.

Causes of tunnel syndrome

  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Incorrect hand positioning when working with a mouse and keyboard
  • Frequent smartphone use
  • Continuous keyboard work for a long time
  • Monotonous fine hand work
  • Age

The set of exercises

To prevent and treat carpal tunnel syndrome and other problems associated with fatigue and pain in the wrist and forearm, doctors recommend a set of exercises:
Clenching and unclenching the fingers
Rotating your arms in different planes
Rotating your hands in different planes
Experts say that the movements a potter uses while working on a potter’s wheel have the same mechanics as the movements recommended for preventing and treating carpal tunnel syndrome.
